Kacey’s Homebirth.

“I’ll walk through the fire, to retrieve my babe.” Edwina Mason (Birth Spell)
Sometimes Women have to go deep into birth and the process requires their absolute everything. They must meet their edge and then go further still.
Kacey’s labour is long, longer than expected for a fourth-time mum, but she meets it with steady, unwavering strength. Every surge challenges her, yet she keeps showing up… with breath, with movement and with quiet determination.
I’m here to support, to witness, to remind her of what she already knows: she can do this. My own baby, just 5 months old, eagerly watches from his carrier and listens to Kacey vocalise. He coos and he smiles. He holds space for this family in his own gentle way.
I watch her lean into the work, not run away from it. She’s exhausted, but not defeated.
Her experienced homebirth midwives use their skills and calm presence to support and care for her every step of the way. Her husband stays close throughout, a constant, grounding presence and their three precious children bear witness to her power, as new life entered their home.
And when her baby finally arrives, there’s no doubt, she didn’t just make it through. She rose to it.
The palpable relief in the room is profound. Baby is here, and this family is complete.
