Angel + Bryan.
… I made a single note in my phone. I wanted to birth at home.
The calling to become a doula was loud and clear for me. I feel deeply honoured and humbled to hold space for you during this profoundly transformative time.
Now in my 8th year as a professional doula, I’ve had the privilege of supporting over 70 families through pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postpartum period. A number of those families have welcomed me back again to support them as their families grew — an honour I truly treasure.
I’m also an award-winning birth photographer, I bring that same sensitivity, intuition, and respect into both my doula and photography work. Whether I’m offering hands-on support or capturing the quiet, powerful moments of your birth, I hold space with deep care and presence. Combining those 2 offerings, Doula + Photography = ‘Doula-tog.’
Doula support begins during pregnancy, continues through labour and birth, and extends into the early weeks postpartum. Over the years, I’ve learned how to provide thoughtful, responsive care that nurtures not just the birthing person, but their partner and wider family as well.
With consistent and compassionate support, you can tap into your most powerful, resilient self — creating a birth experience that is positive, grounded, and uniquely yours. Choosing a doula means choosing continuity of care, and that has lasting benefits for both you and your baby that reach far beyond the birth itself.
Throughout my life, people have come to me in times of change and vulnerability. I’ve always held space for others with warmth, presence, and a gentle sense of humour. I would describe myself as emotionally attuned, open-hearted and deeply respectful of each person’s choices.
I’ve experienced five pregnancies, including two pregnancy losses, and have given birth to my three children — Sonny (11), Cosette (10), and Forrest (4). Each of their births was approached with curiosity, reverence, and joy and those experiences continue to shape the way I show up in this work.
As your doula, I promise to be a steady, non-judgmental presence. I will truly listen, support your choices, and walk alongside you with care and respect. It is with great pride and gratitude that I step into this role — and I would be honoured to support you during this incredibly special time.
I so look forward to walking this path with you.
Yours,
Doula Lou x
