Steph’s VBAC.
I hired Doula Lou to support me in achieving a VBAC in a hospital and I got a whole lot more than that. I personally didn’t know much about Doula’s or how to achieve a VBAC but I knew I needed someone extra. My first chat with Lou I knew she was the woman I needed. I actually thought, yep what a legend.
Lou & I spent hours chatting in our first catch ups which was so important for me- it meant she knew not just what I wanted, but she learnt so much about ME. I could definitely tell that this is how she supported me even better.
Lou’s ability to listen, share, inspire, care and support is second to none.
Income birth- we were lucky enough to make some arrangements as Lou had some time off, but we knew we still really wanted her (so don’t ever hesitate to ask her the question if she says she’s away!), but she did always say if Bub wants me here then I’m sure it will work out… of course it did! My first contraction to birth was 2.5 hours… Lou came straight away when we called her and followed us to the hospital after a bit of time at home. She was gentle, calm, quiet and hands on & off supportive. She knew what we wanted and reminded us of these when we needed. Her birth photography…wow… I’m so grateful this was included. After our beautiful girl was born she stayed for quite awhile, no rushing out the door, it was only until we felt ready. She supported the placenta birth, my first shower and some great chats.
Our postpartum catch ups- lots of debriefing, lots of delicious food delivered, and my fav part was the big cook up we did together with a bit of cleaning (with lots of life chat!!!). Between the cooks I fed & cuddled my girl & dictated 🤣
Lou supplied lots of resources along the way which was really helpful, too!
The best part about having Lou is the messaging and calls of support and encouragement (sometimes just a vent!) along the way and after.
I am so grateful for Lou and her beautiful doula service. I would recommend her to anyone!
